There’s tons of seasonal entertainment this Christmas at the Morecambe “Fringemas” Festival. It’s all happening at the evocative Alhambra Carleton Theatre from December 12-16, so roll up for panto, dance, song, spoken word and lashings of humbug!
Little Red Riding Hood is Morecambe’s very own homegrown panto with suspense and laughs as Li’l Red takes a basket of goodies to her Nan’s house on the Promenade but instead finds an unexpected visitor with very large teeth indeed. But has the Big Bad Wolf bitten off more than he can chew?
Charles Dickens’ timeless yuletide tale gets a revamp with A Christmas Carol Unplugged, blending storytelling, theatre and song – a magical opportunity that showcases Morecambe’s young music talent.
Sophie’s Academy of Musical Theatre presents the captivating Matilda the Musical, about the girl who discovers she has the power to change her destiny. Also chiming in are he Morecambe Warblers with their festive celebration in seasonal song.
And making a welcome return to the Alhambra are children’s poet Dommy B’s Spark the Goblin Wizard and The Dragon Who Hates Poetry, a doublebill of magical tales of monsters and mayhem; Kate Fox’s Chronotopia is the stand-up poet and Radio 4 regular’s wry take on what it means to be Northern; and Thick Richard’s Swear School, a crash course in everything you wanted to know about bad language that school couldn’t teach you.
Keep an eye out for the full programme dropping through your letterbox!
Dates: Tuesday December 12-Saturday December 16 at the Alhambra Carleton Theatre, Morecambe.
